Andrea has made it possible to be fashionable and green, a pairing that many people used to doubt. She has won numerous design awards, such as the International Design Association SMART Environment Award.

Raised in the Netherlands, Andrea was first introduced to the concept of environmentally responsible and healthy lifestyles as a child. As her career developed, Andrea found herself questioning why style and sustainability were such distinct entities. She believed that there was a way they could compliment each other. She pursued this interest, and is now one of the driving forces behind the sustainable interior design movement.

Kantelberg Design specializes in high rise residential buildings, hotels, and luxury homes. That being said, it is hard to image a seamless combination of sustainability and luxury. Yet, materials used in Kantelberg’s designs are chosen based on environmentally responsible factors including local sourcing, energy efficiency, and earth-friendly manufacturing processes to meet this end.

Kantelberg’s sustainability philosophy also extends into other aspects of her life, including her wardrobe. She is a sustainable designer, stating that “what I practice in my work has to translate to my life”. Kantelberg is also working on a collection of eco-friendly home products, the Andrea Kantelberg Ecollection, which will be due out soon. Sustainability for Kantelberg seems to be a lifestyle, not a fad – even her website is powered by 100% Green Renewable Energy!
